Outdoor Play Areas - Update, July 2020

Wadebridge Town Council would like to advise that Outdoor Play Areas in Wadebridge will NOT be reopening on Saturday 4 July.  Government guidance has advised that the 4 July is the date that Outdoor Play Areas can reopen if arrangements are in place to ensure that they are COVID-19 Secure.  We are working through this guidance to ensure that our play areas will reopen and can be used safely.   We are provisionally planning on reopening our Play Areas on Wednesday 8 July.  Please do not use the play areas before this date.

When our outdoor play areas reopen, we ask all users to:
  • Practice social distancing at all times.  If you are unable to practice social distancing in the play areas and when using the play equipment, then the play area is too busy and you should leave and come back another time.
  • Do not stay in the play area for any other reason than to use the play equipment. 
  • Supervise your children when using the play equipment - for their own and others safety.
  • Ensure your children do not put their mouths on the play equipment or put their hands in their mouths
  • Ensure your children do not touch their faces and if they cough or sneeze do so into a tissue or arm when a tissue is not available.
  • Bring hand sanitisers and wipes with you to use.  You may wish to wipe down the equipment before and after use.

For your safety we advise:
  • There are public toilets with handwashing facilities near all our play areas.  Please wash hands regularly.
  • No-one should be in the play areas or use the play equipment if they have COVID-19 symptoms or if they have been in contact with anyone who has.
  • The consumption of food and drink on play equipment or in the playground area is not permitted. Smoking or vaping is also not permitted.
  • That Parents, Guardians or Carers should dispose of all litter including any used protective wear such as face coverings or gloves properly in litter bins, taking it home where a bin is not provided. Disposable face coverings and gloves cannot be recycled

We will be
  • Removing picnic benches and seating where possible.  This is to assist with social distancing and encourage people to leave the play area when they have had fun and have finished using the play equipment.
  • Removing a swing in each of the swing play equipment areas to assist with social distancing.
  • Erecting signage around the play areas in relation to safe usage of the play areas during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Please be advised that when the play areas have reopened, they are used entirely at users’ own risk.

We will keep you updated as we approach our reopening date of 8 July.
