Wadebridge Town Council's income comes from the precept (the part of your council tax that funds us) and income from services such as our car parks and room hire. That keeps everyday services running - it isn't designed to cover a capital project of this nature without either a steep council tax rise or cutting services elsewhere. We don't think either is the right answer.

We’ve been setting aside funds to help fund this project and we’ve applied to the National Lottery, but after having some positive discussions, they are sadly unable to support us.

Take a look at the map below - that's the Wadebridge Parish boundary. It's a small area, and it's the only place where people contribute towards the services and facilities we provide. Our play areas, toilets, car parks and community spaces are used by people from right across the wider area - not just nearby villages, but visitors from much further afield.
None of them contribute a penny. Only those living within that boundary do.

We know times are difficult for a lot of people right now, and we're not asking anyone to stretch beyond what they can afford. But if you're able to dig deep - however small the amount - it genuinely helps.

A fully inclusive play area means children of all abilities can play together, in equipment built to last – it’s a long-term investment, not just a quick win. It'll be enjoyed by children from all over, and we'd love everyone who benefits from it - wherever you live - to be part of making it happen.

That's why we've launched our crowdfunder. Every pound raised is a pound we don't have to borrow, which means a lower burden on residents for years to come.
