Egloshayle Park – Sandpit
We were made aware today of concerns regarding an incident at the sandpit in Egloshayle Park, where it has been reported that a child may have stepped on a needle. At the time of the incident, no needle was seen or recovered by the family member present.
In response, Town Council staff carried out a full inspection of the sandpit today. This included completely emptying the sandpit and carefully examining its contents. No needle or hazardous object was found during this process.
We have been in direct contact with the family to discuss the matter and provide reassurance. We fully recognise how serious and concerning this situation is and would like to assure the public that we treat all such reports with the utmost importance.
Our play areas are inspected daily by our Parks Team to ensure they remain safe and suitable for public use. The safety and wellbeing of all members of the community remains our highest priority, and we will continue to maintain and monitor our facilities to the highest standards.
