Wadebridge Town Council is pleased to share some encouraging news regarding the proposed enhancement of Wadebridge Skatepark.
We have received confirmation from Cornwall Council that our application to the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Fund has been successful, with £100,000 of funding awarded in principle towards the proposed pump track and solar lighting project.
This is a very positive step forward and welcome recognition of the potential benefits this project could bring to our community, particularly young people and those who enjoy wheeled sports. 🛹🚴♀️🛴
⚠️ However, we would like to emphasise that the project is still at an early stage, and there is some way to go before any work can begin.
The funding award is subject to conditions, including planning permission and confirmation of final project costs. We are also awaiting the formal funding agreement from Cornwall Council, which will establish the full terms, conditions and delivery requirements associated with the award. 📋
Until these matters have been considered and the necessary approvals secured, the Council is not in a position to confirm a project start date or delivery timescale.
🤝 We recognise the enthusiasm surrounding this proposal and are delighted to have reached this important milestone. However, we also want to manage expectations and ensure that the project progresses in a responsible, transparent and financially sustainable manner.
This is encouraging news for Wadebridge, but there is still considerable work ahead.
We will continue to keep residents updated as the project develops and further information becomes available.
