PUBLIC NOTICE
Tree Maintenance Works – Egloshayle Road
Wadebridge Town Council wishes to inform residents that tree maintenance works will be taking place along Egloshayle Road over the coming weeks.
The works will include tree pollarding and crown raising and form part of the Council’s ongoing Tree Management Plan, which aims to ensure that trees across the town are maintained safely, responsibly and sustainably.
What work will be carried out?
Crown Raising – Highway Safety
Crown raising involves the selective removal of lower branches to provide sufficient clearance above roads and pavements.
These works are being undertaken following a request from Cornwall Council Highways to ensure that trees do not obstruct vehicles or pedestrians and that the required highway clearances are maintained.
This is an important safety measure to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure Egloshayle Road remains safe for all road users.
Tree Pollarding – Long-Term Tree Management
Pollarding is an established tree management technique involving the periodic removal of upper branches to control the size and growth of trees.
When carried out appropriately, pollarding offers several benefits:
• Helps manage the size and shape of mature trees.
• Reduces the weight and spread of branches, helping to manage potential risks.
• Encourages controlled regrowth and supports long-term tree management.
• Reduces potential conflicts with nearby roads, buildings and other infrastructure.
• Helps retain established trees within the local landscape rather than requiring their removal.
Location of Works
The works will take place along Egloshayle Road, within the area highlighted in red on the accompanying map, including the boundary alongside Egloshayle Playing Fields and the surrounding recreational facilities.
During the Works
Residents and road users may experience some temporary disruption while the works are undertaken. Appropriate safety measures will be put in place where necessary.
The Council will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum and appreciates the patience and understanding of residents.
Wadebridge Town Council remains committed to protecting and maintaining the town’s trees while ensuring the safety of residents, pedestrians and road users.
Thank you for your cooperation.
