💷 Salary: £27,269 – £29,572 (SCP 11–16)
Are you a hands-on, motivated individual with a passion for green spaces and team leadership? Wadebridge Town Council is looking for a dedicated and experienced Head Groundsperson to lead our friendly Parks Team in this vital and rewarding role.
As the Head Groundsperson, you’ll take responsibility for the upkeep and presentation of all Town Council-maintained parks, play areas, and open spaces. From grass cutting to team coordination and machinery management, you’ll ensure Wadebridge’s public spaces remain welcoming, safe, and beautifully maintained for the community.
What you'll be doing:
• Overseeing and scheduling daily duties for the Parks Team.
• Motivating, managing and appraising staff, while encouraging skill development.
• Ensuring safe and effective use, storage, and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
• Managing Health & Safety procedures, including safe use of chemicals and equipment.
• Reporting faults in play equipment and managing minor repairs (e.g., benches, picnic tables).
• Carrying out routine grounds maintenance – grass cutting, hedge trimming, flower beds, etc.
• Updating registers for assets, repairs, and risk assessments.
• Liaising with the Operations Manager to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Coordinating with contractors and external agencies (including the Police) as needed.
You’ll need strong practical skills, previous experience in grounds maintenance, and the ability to lead and support a team. An understanding of Health & Safety regulations and a commitment to high standards is essential.
